Mountain Biking Tips

Learn to Ride. Here are some mountain biking tips!

  1. Always wear a helmet.
  2. Always bring water.
  3. When in doubt, walk. Mountain biking can occasionally be dangerous. If hill looks too steep or a curve too tricky, get off the bike and walk.
  4. Wear the hardest-soled shoes you own.

Rock Climbing Tips

Learn to Rock Climb. Here are some tips.

  1. Picture yourself on a ladder when you climb. Move from one hold to the next as relaxed as if you were climbing the rungs of a ladder.
  2. Avoid over gripping holds with your hands. You will quickly tire out your arms.
  3. Use your feet like you would your hands.
  4. Trust your feet. You can stand on your legs all day. You don't hang with your arms all day.
  5. Trust your belayer, and focus on climbing.
  6. Concentrate on what is within reach.
  7. Climb from the bottom up, not top down. Of course, if you can see the top of the route, look to see if there is a pattern working from the goal down to where you are, but when you start to climb, focus on the climbing at the bottom of the route as you climb up.

How to Make a Short Film

  1. Choose your equipment, something that can record video.
  2. Learn a few features; and review how your recording device works. Learn how to stop and start recording, fast forward, rewind, playback and anything else you might need.
  3. Choose a subject, what you want to make your film about. Think about who, what and where you'll shoot. Form a basic idea for your story.
  4. Type out a script.
  5. Draw out a storyboard, illustrating the shots you plan to use. Don't worry about following the storyboard perfectly. It's just a good idea to get your thoughts on paper.
  6. Find people willing to be in your film.
  7. Shoot your footage.
  8. Edit your film. Many cameras edit in limited ways; and some have special effects. Learn how to "cut" pieces of your footage together and put music or speech over your video. Check your camera's manual or use a free software package like iMovie to make your final cuts.
